The sacrifice
There have been a couple of observations that most home owners are abandoning their pets as they struggle to cope with higher cost of living. Animal rescue centers find themselves getting filled up with dogs, cats and rabbits from people who can no longer afford to take care of them.
Older animals who have medical problems also get dumped easily mainly because they have bigger bills and more expensive treatments.
This is a very sad fate that most animals are facing. When times get pretty tough, they become an easy prey for cutbacks. I just hope that the economy zooms up faster so that the pets can enjoy the luxury of living with their masters without the slim thought of being dumped sooner or later.
