Lucky canines
BBC News - Who could possibly forget about the US real estate tycoon Leona Helmsley who left $2M for her Maltese named Trouble. It was initially $12M but the court adjusted it. Now, it was reported that she wants her estimated $8 billion fortune to be spent on dogs.
She specifically left instructions that her estate must go towards dog welfare according to the New York Times and the animal welfare groups. Her wishes were not part of her will but the court recognizes and considers expressions of intent.
Charities said that the money that she left can be used for fighting rabies and to rescue dogs from disaster zones and tackle dog fighting and canine over-population problems.
Some tough luck for dogs.
