Sweet and deadly
Sweet and deadly. This could possibly be the description of chocolates when it comes to dog care. If your dog is into chocolates, then let this be a warning. Chocolate and cocoa contains chemicals that are toxic to animals if fed in excess. Baking chocolate is even worse as compared to ordinary milk chocolate.
Dogs are more likely to get poisoned by eating chocolates than a cat simple because they love the sweet taste of chocolates and cats are fussier than dogs about what they eat. Small amounts of chocolates can cause too many reactions like nervous system stimulation, fast heart beat, restlessness, weakness, vomiting and diarrhea, hyperactivity and frequent urination. Other severe signs are tremors, seizures and even death.
If an opportunity is presented, most likely, dogs will consume a lot of chocolate. Sweets and chocolates should be stored in a place that they will not be able to reach. If you think that they have over consumed, it is best that you bring them to a veterinarian as soon as possible.
